What does my union do?
State Residential Schools Education Association (SRSEA) advocates for educators working in Minnesota’s state residential and correctional school settings.
We work to protect members’ rights, improve working conditions, and strengthen public education by:
Negotiating and enforcing contracts
Representing members in workplace concerns, investigations, and discipline
Advocating for fair wages, benefits, and safe working conditions
Supporting professional respect and educator voice
Partnering with AFT Minnesota and the American Federation of Teachers on statewide and national issues
At its core, SRSEA ensures educators are not facing workplace challenges alone.
Who belongs to SRSEA?
SRSEA represents educators working in state residential school settings across Minnesota, including:
Teachers
Education support professionals
Licensed and non-licensed education staff
If you work in a state residential or correctional education setting and your position is covered by the bargaining unit, you are eligible for SRSEA membership.
Who can help me if I have questions or concerns?
You have multiple layers of support:
SRSEA officers and building representatives for local questions
Union leadership for contract interpretation and workplace concerns
AFT Minnesota staff for additional guidance, advocacy, and resources
Whether your question is big or small, confidential or urgent, help is available.
Why should I join SRSEA?
Joining SRSEA means:
You have a voice in decisions that affect your job
You receive representation and protection if issues arise
You help strengthen contracts and working conditions for all educators
You support collective advocacy for public education in Minnesota
Simply put: strong membership equals a stronger union — and a stronger union benefits everyone.
I still have more questions ...
