Training Opportunities Across Minnesota

SRSEA members have access to a variety of professional development, leadership, and advocacy training opportunities throughout Minnesota. These trainings are designed to strengthen leadership skills, support local union work, enhance member advocacy, and provide practical tools for serving members and communities.

Member Rights Advocacy (MRA) training helps members develop the knowledge and skills needed to assist colleagues in understanding their rights and resolving workplace concerns. Participants learn about representation rights, effective listening strategies, conflict resolution, and relationship-building within their local organizations.


Leadership & Local Officer Training

Designed for current and future local leaders, these trainings focus on:

  • Local President responsibilities

  • Constitution and bylaws

  • Contract administration

  • Executive board leadership

  • Communication and membership engagement

  • Legal and fiduciary responsibilities

  • Robert's Rules of Order

  • Organizing and leadership development

These sessions are offered throughout the state during summer leadership conferences and regional training events.


Negotiations Training

Negotiations training provides members and leaders with practical skills for collective bargaining, contract settlement, and effective advocacy. Training is recommended for current and future negotiators as well as members interested in learning more about the bargaining process.


Treasurer & Fiduciary Responsibility Training

Local leaders and treasurers can learn about financial oversight, fiduciary responsibilities, compliance requirements, and best practices for managing local finances.
